Silver Flora 2005 |
For the Hampton Court Palace Flower Show 2005, World of Water
and our award-winning designer Pete Sims created a garden
to while away long summer days, for those moments when it is
possible to steal away from today’s hectic lifestyle.
He created a separate space within a garden where someone
can enjoy both their garden and their hobbies, while achieving a
measure of peace in their busy lives. A low bridge crossed a
large pond to a small stone building, used as a retreat and to
store the necessary equipment for its owners chosen hobby -
painting equipment perhaps, or a musical instrument. There is a
seating area in front of the building, making an ideal area to
rest while enjoying solitude or when seeking inspiration.
The planting was primarily of marginal and moisture loving
perennials, with a selection of lilies and deep water marginals
in the deeper areas of the pool. Although the hard landscaping
in the garden is very formal, an informal planting scheme of
native and cultivated plants has been used to great effect.
